Accessibility at COBRA
Where we conform today, what we're working toward, and how to tell us when something doesn't work.
Our commitment
COBRA is used in emergency operations centers, where the people relying on it cannot choose a different tool when something is inaccessible. We treat accessibility as an operational requirement rather than a compliance exercise, and we would rather tell you exactly where we stand than claim more than we can demonstrate.
The COBRA platform
COBRA currently conforms to WCAG 2.0 Level A. Work toward Level AA is underway.
Level AA matters specifically because the Revised Section 508 Standards incorporate both Level A and Level AA. Conforming to Level A alone means COBRA partially meets the Section 508 standard, and we say so rather than describing the platform as Section 508 compliant.
We are preparing an Accessibility Conformance Report (ACR, on the ITI VPAT template) documenting our status criterion by criterion. If you need it for a procurement, contact us and we will share the current version and tell you where it stands.
This website
Built with accessibility in mind: semantic headings and landmarks, a skip link to the main content, visible keyboard focus on every interactive element, support for reduced-motion preferences, text alternatives for images, and colour contrast checked against Level AA.
A formal audit of this site — automated testing and a screen reader pass — is in progress. Until it is complete we are describing what we have built rather than claiming a conformance level we have not yet verified. We will publish the result here, including anything it finds that we have not yet fixed.
Known limitations
The COBRA platform does not yet meet WCAG 2.0 Level AA in full, which is why the ACR above matters more than any summary on this page. Specific criteria and their status will be listed in that report as it is completed.
Tell us about a barrier
If any part of COBRA or this website prevents you from doing something, we want to hear about it, including from evaluators and procurement teams assessing us.
